The College Fix: Georgetown suspends scholar for tweet against Biden’s ‘affirmative action’ Supreme Court nomination process

Scholar apologized for poorly worded tweet, but still placed under investigation Georgetown Law has suspended an incoming administrator for a tweet that criticized President Joe Biden’s public pledge to only nominate a Black woman to the Supreme Court to replace Justice Stephen Breyer. Constitutional law scholar Ilya Shapiro was slated today to begin his new role as executive director of the Georgetown Center for the Constitution, but on Monday it was announced he has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation, the dean of the law school announced. Shapiro’s now-deleted Jan. 26 series of tweets read: “Objectively best pick for Biden is Sri Srinivasan, who is solid prog & v smart. Even has identity politics benefit of being first Asian (Indian) American. But alas doesn’t fit into the latest intersectionality hierarchy so we’ll get lesser black woman. Thank heaven for small favors? Because Biden said he’s only consider[ing] black women for SCOTUS, his nominee will always have an asterisk attached. Fitting that the Court takes up affirmative action next term.” After receiving backlash, Shapiro quickly released an apology. Read more from The College Fix.

Washington Times: Disney, MLB lead watchdog’s ‘worst of the woke’ list for 2021

Major League Baseball and the Walt Disney Co. top a watchdog’s list of the “worst of the woke” enterprises that displayed intolerance in the name of tolerance this year. Major League Baseball made the top 10 of the New Tolerance Campaign’s list for its April decision to move the All-Star Game out of Atlanta to protest Georgia’s new election law, which allows up to 17 days of early in-person voting. It moved the game to Colorado, which has 15 days of early in-person voting. Disney made the list for firing “The Mandalorian” actress Gina Carano for comparing the treatment of conservatives to Jews during the Holocaust in an Instagram post but allowing her co-star Pedro Pascal to compare Trump supporters to Nazis. Fox News: MLB, ACLU make watchdog’s ‘Worst of the Woke’ list

The New Tolerance Campaign, a watchdog organization, has named a plethora of companies and organizations to their 2021 “Worst of the Woke” list, including Major League Baseball (MLB) and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). Several organizations made the list of the top 10 “most hypocritical institutions” in 2021, according to a press release exclusively obtained by Fox News. New Tolerance Campaign president Gregory T. Angelo told Fox News in a Tuesday email that the list highlights the “most notable offenders” of organizations “engaging in double-standards and rank hypocrisy.” Read more from Fox News.
