A dual Italian-American citizen and creative director for several luxury brands including Tiffany & Co., Coach, Bergdorf Goodman and Kate Spade, Testanero was caught on tape riding a subway in New York City berating a Trump supporter, calling him “uneducated” and a “racist.” The situation escalated when Testanero ran out of the subway car and attempted to snatch the individual’s red “Make America Great Again” baseball cap, resulting in her tripping and falling onto the cement. A former coworker noted in an interview with the New York Post that Testanero had become “extremely liberal and very agitated,” often engaging in arguments with Republicans and calling out individuals she believed to be “racist.” 

Jammal serves as Secretary General of the U.S. Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO), an umbrella group established in 2014 that encompasses prominent Islamist organizations including CAIR and American Muslims for Palestine (AMP). Prior to his role at USCMO, Jammal was a board member of the Bridgeview Mosque in Illinois. This religious institution has faced scrutiny for its connections to extremist figures and organizations. Under Jammal’s leadership, USCMO has worked closely with Islamist advocacy groups, including CAIR, whose leaders such as Nihad Awad, have been accused of maintaining ties to Hamas and other radical movements. Jammal has appeared alongside Awad at multiple events, reinforcing a strategic alliance between USCMO and CAIR. Jammal’s past associations raise further concerns: In 2003, while serving as a board member at the aforementioned Bridgeview Mosque, he helped raise funds for the legal defense of Sami Al-Arian, who later pleaded guilty to providing material support to Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), a designated terrorist organization. Despite the charges, Jammal defended the mosque’s actions, claiming that it was simply supporting a “community member’s legal defense.” Jammal has also been associated with events and organizations that have expressed support for Hamas. Following the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel in which more than 1,200 Israeli civilians were slaughtered, USCMO did not issue a condemnation of Hamas. Through his leadership at USCMO, Jammal has positioned himself as a key figure in American Muslim advocacy networks. However, his ties to Islamist figures, refusal to distance himself from radical elements, and longstanding involvement with organizations linked to extremism raise serious questions about his role in shaping the political and ideological landscape of Muslim activism in the United States. 

A Virginia-based surgeon and a senior board member of CAIR’s Washington Trust Foundation (the entity that controls CAIR’s extensive real estate assets), over the years Omeish has been embroiled in controversies involving extremist rhetoric, affiliations with Islamist organizations, and suspicious financial dealings. In 2007, Virginia Governor Tim Kaine appointed Omeish to the Virginia Commission on Immigration. However, he was forced to resign just a month later when video footage surfaced of him praising “the jihad way” as the means to “liberate your land.” Omeish previously served as President of the Muslim American Society (MAS), an organization founded by individuals linked to the Muslim Brotherhood. Additionally, as a board member of Dar Al-Hijrah, a mosque in Falls Church, Virginia, Omeish played a role in hiring Anwar al-Awlaki as an imam. Al-Awlaki later became a leading figure in Al-Qaeda and was linked to multiple terrorist plots. In 2017, Libya’s Defense and National Security Committee listed Omeish’s name as the 29th among 75 individuals designated as terrorists, identifying him as an “international member of the Muslim Brotherhood.” In 2023, just nine days after the Hamas October 7 terrorist attack that took the lives of more than 1,200 Israeli civilians, Omeish posted a poem in Arabic on Facebook expressing hope that “Jihad and the Mujahideen” would be victorious. Despite scrutiny, Omeish remains influential within CAIR and broader Islamist advocacy networks.

A controversial imam, Thahabi has promoted antisemitic, anti-LGBTQ, anti-Western, and anti-women’s rights rhetoric. He previously served in the United Kingdom and was later hired by Masjid Assunnah in Florida. Thahabi has supported violent jihad, stating that “Jihad is a must for Muslims.” He has praised Islamic punishments and expressed open hatred for Jews, comparing them to Satan in a June 2024 sermon. Thahabi’s influence has sparked concern over his role in Masjid Assunnah’s Islamic school, with fears of youth radicalization due to his extremist ideology.

The founder and President of Mercy Without Limits (MWL) and reportedly a trustee of the Muslim American Society (MAS), in the 1990s Albadawi was Executive Director of the Muslim Arab Youth Association (MAYA), which partnered with the Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP) and the Holy Land Foundation (HLF). MAYA once hosted Abdallah Azzam, a mentor to Osama bin Laden. In 2018, MWL sponsored Sheikh Mohammed Rateb Alnabulsi, a Syrian cleric banned from Denmark due to radical statements including “All Jews are combatants.” MWL’s financial records reveal undisclosed foreign aid and large unexplained “gifts in kind,” raising concerns of fraud or money laundering.

Shirazi is the founder of Islamic Oasis, a Chicago-based charity that operates a mosque, school, and community center. The organization has ties to extremist groups, opaque finances, and pro-Taliban operations. Shirazi was affiliated with the Muslim Students Association (MSA) and Hizb ut-Tahrir (HuT), which was banned in the UK in 2024. Shirazi praised violent jihad and posted Hamas terrorist propaganda after the October 7, 2023, attack in which more than 1,200 Israeli civilians were killed. Islamic Oasis has expressed support for convicted terrorist Aafia Siddiqui, collaborated with One Nation, and worked alongside Shajul Islam, a UK physician accused of kidnapping journalists. In Afghanistan, Islamic Oasis works with the German-British Qamar Charity Foundation supporting Taliban governance and education programs. The group has explored using cryptocurrency to bypass financial oversight and encouraged Western Muslims to help build the Caliphate. Despite being U.S.-registered nonprofit, Islamic Oasis has facilitated radical activities abroad and operates with minimal transparency.
